I decided to recertify Ekahau ECSE Design certification this week and here is a short wrapup for my experience

I sat the previously ECSE course with Keith Parsons in 2017 and with Blake Krone in 2018. It was before it was renamed as ECSE Design. This certification expires after three years, but I have not had any needs for renewing this certification. But I have over a long periode asked for a Ekahau update course because of all the new features Ekahau have introduced over the last years.
Now I look into features for all the big Wi-Fi design and validation vendors and decided to renew my Ekahau ECSE certification
There are two options, either attend the 4-day instructor-led training, virtual or in-person, or buy the ECSE Recertification Course. I did the recertification course. A prerequisite to buy this course is that you have a ECSE certification number from before, aka attended the 4-day ILT course earlier.
The video course, for $499, consist of 65 videos and those are divided into these categories
- Introduction, 3 min
- Wi-Fi Fundamentals, 58 min
- Ekahau Survey App, 57 min
- Ekahau Cloud, 8 min
- Ekahau AI Pro Online, 25 min
- Ekahu AI Pro Desktop, 3 hour 20 min
- Ekahau Analyzer, 15 min
- Conclusion and Exam
Luckily for me, the Wi-Fi Fundamental was rather short and most of the course was into features in the different Ekahau applications. I have in the overview above listed the durtion for each category and the total is approx 6 hours of video content.
Matt Starling and Mac Deryng does a good job to keep me motivated during this video course and I was able to look through all videos in three days.
The content is a great recap of most of the features in the different Ekahau applications and those are up-to-date.
There is a lot of development, especially in the AI PRO Online applications these days, so I understand that not everything is totally updated
The last item in the course is the exam which are 60 single- or multi choise question within 90 min. I did the exam on my iPAD and had a desktop nearby where I could access AI Pro Desktop if I needed. Also with the Sidekick2 connected.
I used 48 min for my exam and also tested some of the question in the AI Pro Desktop application and did some Google search for some of the theory questions.
It ended well and I received the Ekahau ESCE badge through Credly within a minute.
I don’t know if could have taken the exam without looking through the videos. I did not test it. For me, it was important to have a recap of all the features in Ekahau.
Could I have passed the exam without looking through the videos? Probably. I wasn’t too difficult.
If I had failed the exam it is possible to buy a new one from Ekahau for $199, I believe
Conclusion
It was a good experience and the video course have good quality and Matt/Mac does a good job to describe the different features.
I recommend using this video course to recap the features in Ekahau and to recertify if you need it.
